Common side effects of hydrocortisone rectal may include: rectal itching, burning, or other irritation or. Therefore, topical corticosteroids should be used with an increased awareness of the potential for systemic adrenal suppressive effects. Additionally, clinical reversible adrenal insufficiency has been observed on rare occasions. The report finds strong laboratory evidence of adrenal hypofunction. The most common tests include measurement of plasma total cortisol, 24-hour steroid, adrenocorticotrophin hormone stimulation and insulin tolerance. If a topical steroid like hydrocortisone is used to treat balanitis, it should generally be used only for short periods of time. It is often used in combination with topical antifungals, like miconazole or clotrimazole. Several diagnostic tests may be utilized to measure adrenal function, though each has its limitations. Hydrocortisone 1 cream is a very commonly prescribed treatment for balanitis. Other patients at risk for development of adrenal suppression include infants and those with damaged skin barriers. Risk factors identified in this report included use of high potency corticosteroids, occlusive or prolonged treatment application, and use in thin-skinned areas. Current literature detailing both laboratory and clinical findings was analyzed, in the hopes of evaluating the health-risk potential of topical corticosteroids in producing adrenal insufficiency. However, systemic adrenal insufficiency may result from their overuse. Topical corticosteroids are often prescribed for the treatment of dermatological disorders. Windows might appear to shrink or expand as they move between the different screens, and that’s because the scaling isn’t quite right. If you’re using your high-res MacBook display with an external screen, you may notice a weird, jarring effect as you move windows from one screen to another. Another small space saver is to untick the option to Show recent applications in the Dock. The apps will still be available from the Launcher. If you feel the icons are too small, trying unpinning app icons that you rarely use by right clicking on them, selecting Options then Remove From Dock. Adjusting the Dock size slider won’t make any difference if your Dock is already running the length of the screen. When you shift the Dock to the side, you’ll notice the icons will have shrunk because there’s less space to fit each one in (assuming your monitor isn’t square!). Reposition the Dock using these settings Barry Collins/Apple Now use the relevant options to shift the Dock to either the left or right of the screen (the top is not an option as that’s where the menu bar lives). To shift the Dock, open System Preferences once more and select Dock. Even if you’re still using screens side by side, moving the Dock to the side of the screen can make more sense, as it’s vertical screen space that’s at a premium with today’s widescreen displays. It creates a barrier between the two screens. If you’re using your displays one above the other, having the Dock at the bottom of the primary display just feels wrong. That will now become your primary display. If yours is still on the lower (laptop) screen, click on that tiny white bar and drag it onto the other display. In the screenshot above, you’ll see a white menu bar at the top of the upper display, which is my external screen. However, if you’re using an external monitor that’s larger than the MacBook’s screen, it normally makes sense to assign that as the primary display. Make your monitor the primary displayīy default, the MacBook’s screen will be assigned as the primary display - the one where the Dock lives and where applications will open. Now you can drag windows from the monitor to the screen below in a completely natural way, as if you were physically dragging them from one screen to the other. Step 10: You can also click and drag just the white bar to select which monitor has the Dock.Drag your laptop screen beneath the main display in the Mac settings Barry Collins/Apple Step 9: Click and drag the blue boxes to match the arrangement of your monitors in real life. Step 8: Now, if you want, you can select the same image for both the monitors by checking off Mirror Displays. Use this window and click Arrangement at the top. Step 7: Two options will come on the screens. Step 6: Now, two windows will open, one on each display. Step 5: After opening the System Preferences app and select Displays. Step 4: Once the display comes back, select the System Preferences app and open it. Step 3: Both screens will go black and might flicker a bit. Step 2: If your Mac doesn't have an HDMI port, you'll need to connect the HDMI cable to a USB cable or hub. Step 1: In order to connect your second monitor to your MacBook, iMac, or Mac Mini, you have to use an HDMI cable. Steps to setting up dual monitors on a Mac Step 9: Save the changes and your dual monitors on a Windows 10 computer is ready. Step 8: Now, click and drag them around to match their arrangement in real life, then click Apply. Here, your main monitor has been listed as 1 and the new one will be listed as 2. Step 7: Now, if you have selected the Extend these displays option, you will have to scroll back up to the Rearrange your displays section. Step 6: Once you've picked an option, click Keep changes. Step 5: Once you scroll down, you will see multiple options, such as Extend these displays, Duplicate these displays, Show only on 1 and Show only on 2. Once the screen comes back, press the right click on the empty part of your PC's desktop. Step 2: Use the VGA, HDMI, or USB cable, depending upon the computer. Step 1: Connect two monitors to the computer tower or laptop you're using. Steps to setting up dual monitors on a Windows 10 computer It will be counted as one of the monitors. Going into its release, there were many reasons to be excited for DNF Duel. While almost all this popularity comes from China, where it recorded as many as 5 million concurrent players, one would assume that at least some of this player base may have carried over. This is even more bizarre considering the fighter is based on the world of Dungeon Fighter Online, a South Korean multiplayer RPG that has over 850 million registered players with sales of $18 billion, making it one of the most popular videogames of all time. Compared to the studio’s other older titles like Strive(2021) (24-hour peak: 1,958), Dragon Ball FighterZ(2018) (24-hour peak: 1,401), or BlazBlue: Central Fiction(2016) (24-hour peak: 367) the game’s community seems to have evaporated. Months later, things have only gotten worse, and as of today it bottomed out at around a 24-hour peak of just 48 concurrent players on PC according to SteamDB, down from 12,331 when it released in June. While most fighting games get a decent bump in player count following the mega-tourney, as spectators flock to recreate the heroics they just witnessed, the post-EVO DNF Duel active player count was still in freefall. However, there was one notable exception from the main stage: the studio’s most recently released outing, DNF Duel. In addition to developing three of the nine titles officially featured at the tournament, their 2021 sequel to a formerly niche series, Guilty Gear Strive, was the most entered game at the event and received the coveted final broadcasting slot of the night. With that in mind, stay tuned as the crossplay beta kicks off at the start of February.Coming off EVO 2022, the biggest fighting game tournament in the land, Arc System Works reigned supreme. More than that, it’s the preliminary chapter to what should be an exciting new era for Guilty Gear Strive if all goes well (hopefully including a fix on recent R-Code player profile issues). All characters including the DLC characters of both Season 1 and Season 2’s passes will also be unlocked, so you can play characters like Goldlewis Dickenson, Bridget, Testament, and the recently released Sin Kiske if you want. Arc System Works has confirmed that the entire game will be unlocked for play during the beta period, including offline arcade, versus, training, combo maker, digital figure, and, of course, online versus modes. This will be quite an interesting way to check out everything Guilty Gear Strive has to offer at zero cost if you haven’t jumped in yet. All characters from Guilty Gear Strive's base game plus Season 1 and Season 2 Pass characters will be available in the crossplay open beta test. You don’t have to buy the game to check it out, but you will be required to download a special beta client that will be available on each platform closer to the beta’s start date. ET, players on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S will be able to take part in the beta. It will be running at the beginning of next month and all you need to do is download the client for the beta test when it goes live.Īrc System Works officially unveiled the details for the upcoming Guilty Gear Strive crossplay open beta in a blog post on the Guilty Gear website. Arc System Works has announced the schedule for a Guilty Gear Strive crossplay open beta. Now we’ve got some dates in February for which we’ll be able to try out the new online system. One of the most exciting prospects on the horizon for fighting game players is the promise of crossplay between all platforms in Guilty Gear Strive. Others wanted "classic" Fire Emblem to be popular with the surging fanbase of the last two installments and hoped Echoes would ultimately be that game.Īs a singular "new-school" tactician, I am still very excited for Echoes. Many people wanted Echoes to do well in hopes that the numbers would inspire more remakes to be made, namely of games like Thracia 776. However, it's understandable several other Fire Emblem players would be worried. I don't think it's something that should really be judged all that hard. Dating simulators are a phenomenon over there, so they probably really appreciate being able to work their long hours and then settle for a very cheap date clearing Chapter 22 with their virtual wife. When thinking about what kinds of things the Japanese gaming community are interested in - it's pretty acceptable that modern game mechanics like pair-up and more importantly, the player avatar are appreciated. There isn't two versions of Echoes, meaning it's not such a troubling sign that it's being dwarfed by Fates' three-times-it's-size selling numbers. Another franchise that suffers in Japan traditionally but picks up abroad is Pokemon.Īdvertising and showing off the game has been rather slim compared to Awakening and Fates, indicating that Nintendo had didn't have hopes that this game was going to keep pace with Fates and Awakening in the first place, and maybe didn't go all out in trying to make it something people were going to buy in spades. This is good, because sales figures abroad should likely help out any lag the game may be experiencing at home. It's not a mysterious entity like it is to the rest of the world. Gaiden has been around in Japan for a long time. However, it's only sold about a THIRD of what Fates sold in it's first week, and less than Shadow Dragon and Mystery's remake, which were panned quite hard by the Fire Emblem community. If you can work around her short range and frailty, you'll find Delthea to be one of the best units in the game. There's some interesting conflicting data coming out of the sales numbers in Japan.Įchoes reached an 80% sell-through rate, which means the game is doing about as well as Nintendo had expected it to do. With a 30% HP growth rate and a 20% defense growth rate complementing her terrible bases in both of those stats, she'll almost certainly always be a delicate flower who must be carefully kept safe from physical attackers. Additionally, although her offensive growth rates are outstandingly good, her defensive growth rates are outstandingly bad. Her spell set is somewhat limited she lacks a spell with 3 range, and she also lacks the powerful-but-light Excalibur spell, meaning she will probably be using Seraphim as her main damage spell. Delthea is an offensive powerhouse who can eliminate many enemies in one round of combat, but even after being leveled up, she's not without her problems. Delthea possess a monstrous 70% attack growth rate, which is the highest in the game, and her 55% speed growth rate means she's quite fast too. Don't let this deter you from using her, however, because her powerful Aura spell will let her finish off enemies fairly easily, and with her high EXP gain as a result of her low level and her insane offensive growth rates, she'll catch up fast before surging ahead of most of your units. Delthea joins fairly late in the game, and although her base stats are good for her level (especially her 14 resistance), her level is 3. Today is the first day of Spring, the on which the Vernal Equinox falls. Vernal equinox occurs on Tuesday and is celebrated in a Google doodle. "Area pagan dreading big family vernal equinox celebration ". Vernal Equinox Ma12:06AM Registered: 5 years ago Posts: 861. Vernal equinox heralds end of the winter that wasn't. The Sun rises due east and sets due west everywhere on Earth on the two equinoxes (vernal and autumnal). Scientists aren't exactly sure why, but fireballs are far more common near the vernal equinox. In Cleveland, July averages 3.3☏ degrees higher than June, with August also warmer than June by 2.8☏, even though the length of days in August is considerably less than the length of days in June. The Vernal Equinox came early this year. While the effect is evident in a daily temperature plot, it is more readily apparent by looking at changes in the monthly average temperature. Average temperatures continue to climb until the sun drops lower in the sky. This lag is due to the time required for ground and water to heat up. Just as the warmest part of the day usually occurs several hours following noon, when the sun is highest in the sky, so too does the warmest part of the summer lags the summer solstice. In northern OH/Northwest PA, the maximum daily temperature occurs nearly 3 weeks later in mid-July. There is a lag between the longest day of the year and the warmest average temperatures for most mid and high-latitude locations. The Relationship Between Length of Day and Temperature The tilt's orientation with respect to space does not change during the year thus, the Northern Hemisphere is tilted toward the sun in June and away from the sun in December, as illustrated in the graphic below. Seasons are caused by the fact that the Earth is tilted on its axis by 23.5°. This fact may sound counter to what we know about seasons in the Northern Hemisphere, but actually, the difference is not significant in terms of climate and is NOT the reason why we have seasons. The aphelion, or the point at which the Earth is about 1.6 million miles farther away from the sun, occurs during the first week of July. During the first week in January, the Earth is about 1.6 million miles closer to the sun. This means that the distance between the Earth and Sun, which is 93 million miles on average, varies throughout the year. We all know that the Earth makes a complete revolution around the sun once every 365 days, following an orbit that is elliptical in shape. Naval Observatory. An alternative text link is found here. In the Northern Hemisphere, it occurs when the sun is directly over the Tropic of Capricorn, which is located at 23.5° south of the equator and runs through Australia, Chile, southern Brazil, and northern South Africa.įor a complete listing of the dates of the winter and summer solstices and spring and fall equinoxes through 2025, check out this site from the U.S. The winter solstice marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. For every place north of the Tropic of Cancer, the sun is at its highest point in the sky and this is the longest day of the year. The summer solstice occurs when the sun is directly over the Tropic of Cancer, which is located at 23.5° latitude North and runs through Mexico, the Bahamas, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, India, and southern China. Therefore, on the day of the summer solstice, the sun appears at its highest elevation with a noontime position that changes very little for several days before and after the summer solstice. The summer solstice occurs at the moment the earth's tilt toward/from the sun is at a maximum. Therefore, on the equinox and for several days before and after the equinox, the length of day will range from about 12 hours and six and one-half minutes at the equator, to 12 hours and 8 minutes at 30 degrees latitude, to 12 hours and 16 minutes at 60 degrees latitude. Additionally, the days become a little longer at the higher latitudes (those at a distance from the equator) because it takes the sun longer to rise and set. The "nearly" equal hours of day and night are due to refraction of sunlight or a bending of the light's rays that causes the sun to appear above the horizon when the actual position of the sun is below the horizon. At the equator, the sun is directly overhead at noon on these two equinoxes. The word equinox is derived from two Latin words - aequus (equal) and nox (night). These events are referred to as Equinoxes. There are only two times of the year when the Earth's axis is tilted neither toward nor away from the sun, resulting in a "nearly" equal amount of daylight and darkness at all latitudes. It’s up to parents, not teachers nor Joe Biden, to decide when, how, or if their kids read about it. Even so, the topic of brutal sexual violence isn’t morally or educationally tantamount to a math lesson. Perhaps “Push” tells the story of an abused girl using appropriately realistic and horrifying words. I’m certainly not arguing that every book removed from libraries is porn or badly written or useless. Some “banned books,” like “It Feels Good To Be Yourself,” are meant to normalize trendy pseudoscientific jargon and ideas among kindergarteners and first graders, filling their heads with words like “nonbinary,” “gender fluid,” and “gender expansive.” Others contain vulgar, graphic sexual scenes of incest and child rape, such as those featured in Sapphire’s “banned” novel “Push.” Jill-mom, educator-owes it to democracy to read the words: “I got off once while driving just by rubbing the front of my jeans and imagining getting a b- j-b.” Though, it doesn’t have to be “Lawn Boy.” It could be the graphic novel “Gender Queer,” banned by the Cherry Creek School District in Colorado, according to PEN. This is a vital resource for kids, says the administration. I put Doug Goble’s d–k in my mouth,” and so on. Or, better yet, First Lady Jill Biden-who, you may not have heard, earned a doctorate in education-should recite these words for the kids: “‘What if I told you I touched another guy’s d–k?’ I said. They aren’t “banned ” schools just refuse to carry them.) (Incidentally, do you know how many books celebrating traditional families or the Second Amendment or Western civilization or the wonders of capitalism are stocked in school libraries? Speaking from experience, I’d say maybe a handful-and that’s probably an exaggeration. The School Library Journal praises “Lawn Boy” as an exploration of “race, sexual identity, and the crushing weight of American capitalism.” (PEN America is an advocacy group that promotes freedom of speech for writers.) It is, after all, on PEN America’s Index of School Book Bans. Perhaps the White House could set up a themed reading circle on the South Lawn where the president can recite selections from “Lawn Boy,” which describes 10-year-old boys performing oral sex on each other. After all, “ book banning erodes our democracy,” says White House Domestic Policy Adviser Neera Tanden, and “removes vital resources for student learning, and can contribute to the stigma and isolation that many communities face.” Now, if that sounds like an unfair description, there’s an easy way for the president to debunk his critics: He can read selected outtakes from some of these “innocuous” books to prepubescent kids like those who showed up to the event.Įven better, he can do it on TV. Ahead of the event, he announced that he’ll appoint a “ banned book” czar whose job it will be to try to compel local communities to stock their libraries with race-obsessed pseudohistories and books depicting oral sex, rape, violence, and gender dysphoria. Joe Biden recently hosted a Pride Month event for families with LGBTQ kids on the White House South Lawn.
